The 10th Guangzhou Art Festival is already underway running from July 17th to September 16th with the theme "Art Illuminates Life".
The festival features over 90 performances by domestic and overseas art troupes, covering opera, dance drama, Peking opera, Cantonese opera, children's drama, acrobatics and other artistic forms.

During this year's festival, you will be able to watch a wide range of performances of Chinese traditional art forms, including Cantonese opera "Mu Lian Saves His Mother", large-scale acrobatic drama "Battle of Shanghai", and folk-dance drama "Awakening Lion". The Chinese national opera "The Savage Land" to be performed during the festival was the first Chinese-language Western-style opera to step on the stage of a prestigious Western opera house.

The festival has invited lots of world-renowned performers, including Chinese pianist Lang Lang, Peking opera artists Yu Kuizhi and Li Shengsu, popular dancers Hu Shenyuan, Tao Ye and Hao Ruoqi. Lang Lang is scheduled to give a piano recital at Guangzhou Opera House on August 20th. He will perform 'J.S. Bach: Goldberg Variations, BWV 988' only. This is the first time he has played this piece in public this year.

The festival has also assembled many professional art troupes, including the National?Centre for the Performing Arts, the National Peking Opera Company, and Ningbo Song and Dance Theater.
Both parents and children can gather together to enjoy the festival as it also stages a series of parent-child dramas at the Happy Box Theater, including picture book puppet show "Little Red Wolf Eating Noodles", an ethnic style puppet show "Magic Journey" and picture book shadow play "Guji Guji".

A drama carnival will be held at the Lingnan Impression Park during the festival. The event will display a group of outstanding stage productions presented by universities. Performance groups from across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and other regions will also join the carnival.
Some selected plays will be shown on Kugou, Sina, Huya and other livestreaming platforms during the festival. In addition, classic plays from the United Kingdom, Japan, Spain and other countries in the world will be screened online in high-definition, so that you can enjoy the performances without leaving the comfort of your couch.

The shows will?be?performed at a dozen venues in downtown Guangzhou, including the Guangzhou Opera House, the Friendship Theater, the Guangdong Arts Theater, and the Xinghai Concert Hall. Government subsidies have allowed some hefty discounts on ticket prices. Medical workers can enjoy some of the shows for free.
To ensure the safety of audiences and staff members, all venues, dressing rooms and office areas are required to strictly implement epidemic prevention and control measures. Tickets will be sold online via real-name booking systems. Seating capacity is limited to 30 percent per performance.
